How Do You Donate a Timeshare You No Longer Want Without Incurring Any Costs to You?

I am interested in donating my timeshare, however, I understand most non profit agencies require you pay the next year’s maintenance fees as well as closing costs. Why donate if it’s going to cost me 00. This is a deeded property I no longer want. What is the best way to get rid of it?

You’d have to find a charity that’s open to taking your timeshare, but you’ll find that most charities will not accept them because they know that in the end the timeshare will actually cost money rather than be an asset for the charity. If you find one, I guess you might be able to quitclaim the deed to them and then have it recorded, but you’d have to check with your timeshare whether or not you can transfer ownership to a non-profit entity. There’s a lot of legwork involved. If you can get rid of it for $1500, it might be the best deal out there for you.

They charge because someone has to pay, and they don’t want to!

You may like to try a timeshare association such as http://www.tatoc.co.uk/ where you can get more help with your question. Or perhaps try a legal rep who specialises in timeshare dealings.

    Good luck!
