What Are the Legalities of Selling or Leasing Oneself With a Contract?

I know this is opening a can of worms but I am just curious.
As people of free rights can we not buy, sell, rent, lease, rent to own, timeshare, lol etc. our own selves in sound mind and body by contract?

We are indeed "people of free rights" with (generally) the freedom to contract; however there is that category of contracts that courts consider to be ‘against public policy’ that will almost never be enforced. Contracting for the sale or leasing of one’s own person would fall within this category, along with contracts to kill and contracts for the sale of other persons.

Nope, you cannot, even for yourself if you willingly choose. It’s slavery, and it’s outlawed. You might be able to come up with a specific contract that you are to perform the following services, but you cannot lease nor sell even yourself to someone.
